STUDIO

VAstudio is an architecture, design, and research practice based in Chania, operating at the intersection of computation, material intelligence, and built form.

Working across residential, hospitality, and urban scales, VAstudio approaches architecture as an adaptive system integrating structure, material, and environment into coherent architectural frameworks.

Operating internationally, VAstudio collaborates across disciplines to deliver architecture that is technologically informed, materially grounded, and deeply embedded in its cultural and environmental context.

Alexander Varvantakis, Co-founder, Lead Designer

Alexander holds both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Greenwich, along with a Master’s from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), specializing in computational design and advanced fabrication technologies.

His professional journey includes positions at world-renowned firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects, Foster + Partners, and HKS, where he worked as a Computational Designer and Architect on international projects from concept to delivery.

With a deep focus on the intersection of architecture and emerging technologies, Alexander has explored parametric design, digital fabrication, and robotic construction across both professional practice and academic research. As a freelancer, he continues to push the boundaries of computational methods, translating theoretical innovation into built form.

VAstudio approaches architecture as a long-term cultural and environmental framework rather than a fixed object. Projects are conceived as open systems capable of adapting to change, occupation, and time, allowing architecture to evolve alongside its users and environment.

Through the integration of research, computation, and material precision, the studio develops architecture that is both technologically informed and deeply human in scale and experience.

VAstudio operates internationally, collaborating with clients, engineers, and consultants to deliver projects that are precise, contextually responsive, and architecturally enduring.
